How long do anti wrinkle injection results last?
Typically anti-wrinkle treatment lasts for around 3 to 4 months. Results can take around 3 to 14 days to show.
What treatments are available for acne scarring?
Acne scarring can be treated with a combination of treatments to increase collagen production and exfoliate the skin. These include microneedling, skin peels and skincare with active ingredients such as retinol and glycolic acid. Dermal filler may also be used to fill particularly deep scars.
Where can dermal filler be injected?
Dermal filler can be injected anywhere on the face, neck or body, wherever there is noticeable volume loss. Dermal filler is used to smooth out facial lines caused by volume loss, ageing or skin damage, across the cheeks, temples, lips, nose to mouth lines, corners of the mouth, neck, and chest. Different areas will require different types of filler, to create a more natural effect.
Can anti-wrinkle injections lift the eyebrows?
Antiwrinkle injections can be placed to ensure that the eyebrows are subtly lifted, creating more open eyes and a more youthful appearance.
How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Antiwrinkle injections work by relaxing the muscles which lift specific areas of the face. This then leads to fewer lines in those areas.
For example when the muscles which lift the eyebrows are relaxed, the horizontal lines across the forehead are reduced.
When the muscles which draw the eyebrows down into a frown are relaxed, the vertical lines of the frown are reduced.
When the muscles which crinkle at the sides of the eyes are relaxed, the crows’ feet lines are reduced.
Where can anti-wrinkle injections be injected?
Antiwrinkle injections can be placed in the forehead lines, frown lines, and crows’ feet lines to reduce these lines. The injections can also be placed into the sides of the mouth to reduce the appearance of a downturned smile, or by the sides of the nose to reduce a gummy smile, or along the top lip to flip the lip outwards to create the appearance of more volume. The injections can also be placed into the chin to reduce the pebbly effect of the chin.
Other areas of treatment include relaxing the muscle in the cheek which causes teeth grinding and a bulging jaw. The injections can also be used to treat migraines.
What treatments are available for seasonal allergies like hayfever?
Hayfever can be treated with over the counter antihistamines, eye drops, wipes and sprays, as well as stronger prescription only medicines such as oral steroids or nasal sprays. Other treatments include steroid injections into deep muscle, and intranasal antiwrinkle products delivered via nasal atomiser in clinic. Results can last from 6 to 12 weeks, depending on environmental conditions and exposure to allergens.
What treatments are available for excessive pigmentation?
Pigmentation can be caused by various factors, including previous skin trauma such as acne, or sun exposure, or hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy. Treatment can include skincare products with skin brightening and pigment blocking active ingredients, as well as sun protection. Clinic treatments can include light therapy (LED), skin peels and microneedling.
What treatments are available for acne?
Acne is a chronic condition, meaning that it can take a long time to treat or manage. Treatment should always start with a consistent skincare routine, ensuring that skin is always cleansed and hydrated, as well as protected from sun damage. Home care may include oral antibiotics or prescription skincare including antibiotics and ingredients to destroy acne bacteria. Skincare products with other active ingredients such as salicylic acid to reduce oil production, and retinol to encourage cellular turnover are also effective. Clinic treatments include skin peels, microneedling (once cystic acne has been cleared), and light therapy (LED) to exfoliate, create smoother skin and kill acne bacteria. Probiotic supplements may also be effective, to reduce the amount/proportion of acne causing bacteria at gut level.
What type of results can I get from a skin peel?
Skin peels can be used to deliver a variety of results, depending on the aim of treatment. Skin peels are classed as superficial, medium or deep. Most superficial peels do not result in skin shedding afterwards, although the skin may feel dry initially. Medium peels may result in mild skin shedding, and the skin will feel dry. Deep peels will result in a severe amount of skin shedding, and should only be carried out in a hospital or clinic setting. After the peel, the skin will feel very soft and smooth, due to the exfoliation that has occurred. This result will last for a few weeks, but if a course of peels is completed then the results will last for months not weeks. Peels are excellent at reducing acne, acne scarring, excessive pigmentation, rough skin texture and fine lines and wrinkles.
How long does lip filler last?
Results from lip filler treatment last for around 6 to 9 months. Using a lip balm with sun protection factor (SPF) and drinking water will help to extend the results even further.
Does lip filler hurt?
Lip filler treatment can be uncomfortable, as it involves injections directly into and around the lips to create volume and definition. However, the discomfort can be reduced by using ice packs, numbing cream, or injections of anaesthetic which fully numb the area being treated. Numbing cream wears off within around 45 minutes, and anaesthetic injections wear off within 2 to 3 hours.
